The Foundation and History of the 2019 Honda Insight
On January 15, 2018, the 2018 North American International Auto Show will premiere in Detroit. At that event, Honda is set to make the world debut of their new Honda Insight Prototype, a premium style sedan powered by an innovated hybrid powertrain system. This sophisticated prototype is designed to be a precursor teaser to the release of the 2019 Honda Insight that plans to launch in Summer 2018.
Honda Insight History
However, this is not the first Honda Insight prototype. The Insight prototype set to debut next week is the third-generation prototype model of the Honda Insight. All prototypes were designed as hybrid vehicles, and that technology has done nothing but improve over the years.
The first-generation prototype debuted in 1999. It was presented as a 2-door sedan with a lightweight aluminum structure powered by a new electric motor.
Then, the second-generation prototype came in 2009. Its design improved further, transforming into a 5-door hybrid sedan seating up to 5 passengers. Furthermore, the second-generation Insight prototype made a definite and historic mark as the most affordable hybrid model on the market at its time.
2019 Honda Insight Prototype
Additionally, the third-generation Honda Insight prototype continues to follow the Honda Electrification Initiative. This initiative’s goal is to make electric and hybrid vehicle models more mainstream and affordable for the public. The 2019 prototype creates a stellar experience as it is the first of the Insight prototypes to do away with any tradeoffs.
Most hybrid and electric models have to sacrifice power and performance for the sake of fuel efficiency. However, the 2019 Honda Insight prototype hits the bullseye in every category. This is done through Honda’s new two-motor hybrid powertrain system. This innovative design provides competitive power against performance-driven vehicles and a quality fuel economy compared to other hybrid models.
