If you’re one of those people who has promised they’d NEVER drive a minivan, now might be a good time to start reconsidering that stance. With the unveiling of the 2018 Honda Odyssey at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, there has been a new standard set when it comes to family travel. With new ways to monitor and communicate with rear seat passengers, a new powertrain, more maneuverable seats, and a multitude of other new amenities, the minivan just got a whole lot cooler.
2018 Honda Odyssey Release Date
Before diving into the top features and updates, let’s first explore when you can expect the 2018 Honda Odyssey to arrive at Rossi Honda. According to Honda, the 2018 Honda Odyssey release date will come sometime this spring, so while we don’t yet have an exact date, we won’t have to wait long until this beauty arrives right here in Vineland.
Introducing Honda CabinWatch
Kids can get away with a lot in the third row of a vehicle…or at least they could. With the introduction of CabinWatch, drivers can monitor the behavior of those in the backseat, day or night, on the 8-inch display while only momentarily diverting their eyes from the road rather than turning all the way around.
New High-Resolution Display
Speaking of that 8-inch display, it’s new on the 2018 model as well. The 720p resolution display is the central hub for most audio and telematic options. The next-generation Odyssey is also Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ compatible, so your smartphone’s familiar interface will come to life on this beautiful new display.
Communication Made Easy With CabinTalk
When you catch Johnny pulling Susie’s hair on CabinWatch, you don’t have to strain your vocal chords to get their attention. With CabinTalk, you can communicate with rear seat passengers through the second- and third-row speakers or rear entertainment headphones.
Make More Space With Magic
The 2018 Honda Odyssey welcomes the most versatile rear seats ever created. Dubbed Magic Slide™ seats, there are four easily configurable modes — Easy Access, Super, Wide, Buddy — that each provide a unique mix of passenger and cargo space.
A Better Experience Behind The Wheel
Under the hood, the 2018 Honda Odyssey sports a 3.5-liter, direct-injected i-VTEC™ V-6 engine. Horsepower increases 32 from the previous model, with max engine output of 280 horsepower. Two transmission options are available — a 9-speed automatic and a new 10-speed automatic, which marks the first of its kind in a minivan.
Keep an eye out for the 2018 Honda Odyssey release date this spring to see all of these, and many more great features up close and personal at Rossi Honda. In the meantime, stay posted to our blog for more updates and details about Honda’s incredible new minivan.
